Went to see the Nutcracker display in town and toured the fort. There was a volunteer tour guide, Dan, in period dress that gave us informative and fun tour of the old fort.

I spent two wonderful days as a tourist in Belmont County. I went to Barkcamp State Park, the Great Stone Viaduct, the Victorian Mansion Museum, and more. I tried a hot dog from Gulla’s Lunch Box in Bellaire, valley pizza from DiCarlos in Saint Clairsville, and a beer from the Brewerks in Martin’s Ferry. Everywhere I went people were so personable. Kudos to your county. For a rural county, you have some great things to see and do and you promote yourselves well!

We came here for the Algonquin Mill Festival. This is a great small festival. There were quite a few vendors set up today, and many unique local crafts were represented. Food, you can choose from pork and saurkraut dinner, bean soup and cornbread, or hot dogs, burgers, and fries. Ice cream and apple dumplings were also available. The grounds are composed of a number of log structures and historic buildings. The mill was in operation, and you could watch grain being milled. We also toured the cheese house, bread house, and the art show that was set up in the barn. There are a lot of buildings to explore.

[The John & Annie Glenn Museum] is a very interesting and unique museum! It really takes you back in time, especially having an actress as John’s mom to take you through the house. A wonderful place to visit, and I highly recommend going!

We had my Bachelorette party at Great Trail [Golf Course] and it was SO much fun!! The course was fun to play, definitely challenging at times, but absolutely gorgeous! The rooms were so cute and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable! We ate dinner at Heritage and the food was fantastic! They even lit a bonfire for us. Definitely recommend a stay and play, just stay for a round, book an outing or event and stay for some delicious food! Thank you for making our weekend so much fun!

I’ve currently played 2203 different Disc Golf courses in the World. [Eagle Ridge Disc Golf Course] is a beauty, and a must play!! A few epic holes will want you to empty your bag. Solid blue course!! …I feel that with the dedicated volunteers that are tirelessly working to improve the course, this will be a course that will be one of the better Disc Golf courses in Ohio to play now and in the future.

Dundee Falls is truly one of Ohio’s hidden treasures, and it’s well worth the visit. The trails leading in are peaceful and scenic, surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you slow down and really take it all in. Once you arrive at the falls, the sight and sound of the water cascading over the rocks is absolutely stunning, whether it’s the height of summer, the colors of autumn, or even a frozen wonderland in winter. It’s a perfect place to hike, take photos, or simply relax and enjoy a quiet moment in nature. Dundee Falls is a must-see for anyone who loves the outdoors.

Had a chance to visit the Clark Gable house. Janet was our tour guide. I love old Hollywood so it was one of my areas of interest and Janet answered all of my questions. A lot of interesting memorabilia including Clark Gable’s 1954 Cadillac. Highly recommend.

Wow! The [Montecello Canal Boat Ride] is a fun experience relaxing ride. The narrative by the crew is great. A rare experience to enjoy on the weekend. The horses that pull the canal boat are big and very docile. You buy tickets when you arrive there. Totally recommend this.

We traveled to Cambridge for the first time from over 100 miles away. We stopped by the tourist information center just to see in there was any information available that we didn’t get online. We were highly impressed with the amount of informational items available. The lady that was working at the time was very informative and helpful. She gave us information on specific events happening over the weekend that we were not aware of. She suggested many sites and places to see while we were in town. Cambridge is a wonderful little town with lots of charm. If you are planning a visit, I highly recommend stopping by the tourist information center.

I had the opportunity to visit the Johnny Appleseed Festival. What an amazing experience! The retiring court of 2019-21 and new 2022 Johnny Appleseed court are a phenomenal group of girls! I got to reconnect with the Columbiana County Beef, Dairy Goat, and Market Goat ambassadors! I had a wonderful time!

We [visited Historic Fort Steuben] during Ohio Valley Frontier Days, so they had put a lot of effort into having interpreters and activities. The interpreters were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, the grounds in good shape, and there were a great variety of activities. Definitely “punched above is weight” for being in such a remote part of the state.

We watched the video and did the school house and barn tour [at the Behalt Amish Mennonite Heritage Center]. Both were very informative, and as a first stop in Holmes County it gave us a decent understanding of the people and history of the area. The school and barn are both great interactive places for middle school and high school kids. The gift shop was nice, and I appreciated the help from the woman at the front desk as my son and I really didn’t know what to do when we got there. I would definitely recommend this place as a first stop though.

Shoutout to Dennison Railroad Depot Museum! We visited there for the first time today and it did not disappoint. Staff was very friendly, took time for the kids, informative, and just a nice little walk through history. They had a great scavenger hunt for the kiddos…they had activities throughout the museum that made you feel like you were one of the passengers…well done! Highly recommend. We had no plan to go, just kinda found ourselves there.

I was the coordinator for a wedding this past weekend at Clary Gardens, and it was simply stunning. The grounds are so well maintained, and it’s clear they just keep getting better — they’ve added even more since the last time I visited. Jandi and Jacob were so helpful during the walk-through at the start of the weekend, making sure we had everything we needed (plus a solid plan in case weather didn’t cooperate). The bridesmaids were obsessed with the bridal suite, and guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the space was. I can’t wait to be back next month for another wedding!

[Heini’s Cheese Chalet] is a beautiful building! Once inside, you’ll find all the yummy cheese, snacks, and candy you could imagine. They have large windows for viewing the cheese making process. I bet you won’t leave empty handed, I sure didn’t!

Excellent tour today by docent [at the McCook House]. Loved hooked rugs especially Santa one. Enjoyed reading of poem written by a Civil war soldier long ago. Very special place operated by a great tour guide. Will stop on again. Must see by civil war buffs.

We went to the 1st Backroads & Campfires Country Music Concert on 08/15/25 [at Sally Buffalo Park]. Plenty of parking, a beautiful venue, great food trucks & beverage stations. Issac Cole, Thomas Mac, Craig Morgan & Randy Houser put on one heck of a great show. The outdoor park also has a beautiful lake for fishing & kayaking. Plenty of places to picnic too!

[Hershberger’s Farm & Bakery ] is one of our favorite places to visit in Holmes County! There is an on-site bakery with lots of treats to purchase for $1. They also make popcorn in a kettle over an open fire, sell handmade leather goods produced on site, textiles and wooden toys. If you love farm animals, there are goats on the barn roof, large and small farm animals and even some exotic animals to see. It is run by Amish folk. They also have a great selection of bulk spices, grocery items, and some pies and produce. The country drive is worth every penny you’ll spend on fuel! Don’t miss this country gem!

What a perfect week [at Tappan Lake Park]! Perfect spot. Perfect weather. Perfect amenities and perfect place to visit. Clean as a whistle! Staff pleasant and a great place during the week to hang out… definitely a good place to relax without anyone around week days in late August. Stayed in area 5. Sites are spaced far enough apart for privacy! Rented a fishing boat for the day. Tappan Lake is a great place to just fish or relax! Will return!

[Beaver Creek State Park] is peaceful, scenic, quiet, well kept. It only has pit latrines, but this park is in my top 3. I always find myself feeling serene and full of gratitude when I stay here.

[the Steubenville Nutcracker Village] is a truly magical experience. This town really pulls out all the stops and lets the Christmas spirit shine through. Do yourself and your family a favor and make the Nutcracker Village an annual tradition!

[The Living Word Outdoor Drama] THIS IS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE! I will be back at least once a year. You are right by Interstates 70 and 77. Words can’t express how moving of an experience this is for people of all faiths. Most of these people are volunteers. The woman who is 84 years old and still giving tours, performing, and spreading the good word is an inspiration.

[The Dickens Victorian Village] in Cambridge is the place to be at Christmas. Their Courthouse light and music show is better every year. The life-size Dickens characters transforms the town into Christmas. Ate at Theo’s and had great food before the show. I don’t know how many volunteers it takes to pull this off, but thanks to everyone involved. It’s a beautiful thing!
